Prospective marriage visa (Subclass 300)
This visa lets you come to Australia to marry your prospective spouse and then apply for a Partner visa. It is valid for upto 15 months from the date of grant and applicants must marry their partner within this time frame. To be eligible for the visa, applicants must be sponsored by their partner and meet certain criteria, including age, character, health and financial requirements. Once the visa has been granted, applicants can travel to Australia and marry their partner. After the marriage has been registered, applicants can apply for permanent residency. The application process for the permanent residency visa includes the submission of documents and evidence to demonstrate that the marriage is genuine and ongoing.
